Just as each bride and groom is unique, so should their wedding ceremony. The ceremony is all about the union of two hearts and making an everlasting promise.
Rabbi Ellen Zuskin holds a very special place in our hearts. Not only did she marry us, but she has known my husband his whole life and watched him become a man. Although I had only known Rabbi Ellen for a few years, it truly felt like we were being married by a family member.
Before the ceremony we met with our close family and wedding party to sign the ketubah. Rabbi Ellen explained the importance and tradition of the ketubah signing, and asked our parents to share their thoughts on a happy and healthy marriage. It was a special time with close family and quite emotional, and when I see our ketubah in our home everyday I think back to that special time we all shared together. For the months leading up to the wedding we were in communication about how we wanted our ceremony. Rabbi Ellen incorporated traditional and more modern influences, and there was laughter and tears and smiles from ear to ear.
When I see guests from our wedding they still complement me on how wonderful our rabbi was. She was such an integral part of our wedding day, and I don't think that everyone gets to have that experience. We just can't say enough wonderful things about Rabbi Ellen, and her love for Jewish tradition and family.
